Students 0490

I normally don’t do lifestyle shoots but a friend asked me to help her out with a project. She needed photos of students using technology in different locations. I never got the name of the student on the left so I gave her a nickname: Fast and Furious because she reminded me of Letty from the movies. While we were working, I shortened it to Fast. It was a fun shoot. I initially edited the photo in contrasty monochrome. I liked it but then I decided to try it in desaturated color. That didn’t work at all. Eventually I settled on this one with saturated colors. @samsanchezphoto

Ileana 8140331

I just remembered I shot a number of models in a Ghost In The Shell t-shirt. One of my on-going concepts is of a model in a printed t-shirt. The designs range from anime to vintage concert shirts. The assignment for the model is to make it sexy. Ileana more than satisfied the requirement. Wow wee! @samsanchezphoto

THE $23 POLAROID

My father-in-law gave me his Polaroid Spirit 600 camera from the 80’s. I thought it would be cool to use it on a shoot with Vivi. I took out the camera and made this print. The feel of the shutter release and the whirring of the motor brought back memories of my old Polaroid Pronto from the 70’s. The print came out and we waited. The print took longer to develop than I remember and this is what appeared. I expected a few artifacts but was generally pleased with it. When I shot another picture, the film pack jammed. I didn’t have a changing bag so I couldn’t do an on-site repair. Later that night, I unjammed the film pack. When I went to take another photo, it jammed again. This time I removed the top print from the film pack. I took another photo and it jammed again. I put the camera away for a couple of months. When I took it out to make a photo, I discovered the batteries had died. The film pack cost $23 and I got one print. And this is one of the many reasons I don’t miss film. On another note, Vivi looks stunning but she would anyway no matter what I used to photograph her. @samsanchezphoto
